Here, in one of the most bustling parts of the island, expect to see an eclectic mix of restaurants, shops, and cafes where everyone from visitors to the locals are catered to. You can buy everything from wine, clothing, food, gifts, and everything in between.

Scratch that artistic itch by visiting one of the three art galleries in Oneroa. You will find the Waiheke Community Gallery, [ s p a c e ] gallery, and Toi gallery all ready to be explored. Get your artistic fix from the many unique pieces and then look out for the perfect souvenir at their gift shops afterward. You might find a stunning ceramic cup to remind you of your time on the island. Or buy an art piece that you have a pull towards- that’s definitely a way to remember the magic of the island.

What shops can you expect from Oneroa? Nothing tops a gift that is both practical and personal. For those who love a good piece of jewelry- Timmy Smith is just the store for you. Not only does Timmy Smith have an eclectic mix of rings, necklaces, and bracelets, but they also have wonderful, special teas to delight your senses with. Have a spot of tea while you pick out the perfect gift- or grab a treat for yourself. Travel down Ocean View Road to see Veranda for something truly artisan. This shop is a fantastic place that sells mainly household products that are both functional and stylish.

Let’s face it, you are probably seeking to come back from Waiheke with some lovely souvenirs in tow. In the Pendragon Mall, you will find Upcycle, a retail collective. Not just any collective though, as all items are exclusively made on the island itself. So grab that one-off statement piece- no one else will have it but you! You’ll even be served by the product makers after you’ve picked your garment or item. For those retro lovers, you will surely enjoy shopping at Jones, which displays collections of handcrafted items as well as jewelry and hats galore. A great stop for tourists is Island Designs, a superb place for some Kiwiana products to keep or gift as souvenirs.

Op shopping can be a great resource for finding distinctive clothes and often you can come away with a good haul of items. You will find The Red Cross, and WISCA in Oneroa as well as New Hope which is located in Ostend. Enjoy the hunt for bargains.

Of course, you need a one-off garment to wear to your next vineyard hop, well great news because Oneroa sure does not fall short on designer shops. On Ocean View Road, you will find We-Ar, which is a sustainably minded streetwear clothing shop with yoga wear also. Pick up some new leggings for those Waiheke hikes you’ve been dreaming about. To get a truly distinctive piece of clothing, pick up one of Sally Smith’s locally inspired tees. You can find these at the Toi Gallery.

It’s definitely time for a snack- you’ve been walking all day around the shops. Rest a while at the Island Grocer. Pick up some cheese for your wine-eke filled nights. There’s also a selection of fresh veggies and organic fruit. Make something simple for dinner on a night in. Grab some pre-made meals at the Village Butchery. If it’s a Friday and nice weather they often have fresh fish for you.

10 minutes down the road and you’ll be in Ostend. This gem of Waiheke has been growing for many years and now feels quite central, with the island’s few supermarkets on Belgium Street.  On this street, you will also find a collection of clothing stores, gift places, and of course clothes. For all oyster lovers, find your people at Te Matuku Oysters. Here you will find sustainably caught fish and wonderfully fresh farmed oysters. Pick up an oyster pie on the go

Belgium Street is truly a little hub of activity; do check it out on Saturday mornings, when the street is decked out with wonderful stalls for the market. You can find some one-of-a-kind trinkets here to take home plus heavenly fresh produce for your lunches.

Have you not found the perfect gift yet? You’ll find it at True Blue in Ostend. There’s a vintage swimsuit collection, beachy homeware, and very quirky cards. Have a walk around their shop and you never know what treasures you might unearth.

Ease your inner hippy with some crystals, at Likerish. You can also grab lavish rugs and beds for your doggo here also. Pop into the Waiheke Art and Crafts shop and pick up some art supplies for those rainy day ins. Awaken your adventurous side and pick up a surfboard from Out There. Don’t forget to freshen up your style with some new jandals and sunnies, well in stock at the store.

As we zoom on over to Onetangi, there are definitely some must-visit shops for you to see. When in Onetangi you would no doubt have to step on the sandy, long beach that this town boasts. So of course you need those summer supplies. Before lounging in the sun, drop by Beach Store Waiheke and grab some sunscreen and towels. If not for the supplies, then you must snatch one of their smoothies, they are the best on the island! They also serve coffee and fish and chips. Sprawl out a towel and set yourself up for a day after all your shopping. You deserve it.
